I have a serious lack of light in my flat, which irks me. So, on days when its sunny or the light streams in, I have to take the opportunity to shoot.

The other day, magic hour sunshine was streaming in and I loved how it was hitting the apricots on my table and I went snap happy.

Streets of London: Passages and Lanes

The one thing I find quite fun and quirky about London, are the lanes and alley ways with old architecture, bang in the middle of the renowned steel structured buildings of the CBD. Their names are quite fun too. Not only are some dripping with dry humour, but every single lane, alley or "row" (as it is sometimes called here), has a name.. even the dodgy ones that lead nowhere and is just used for parking garbage. Every single one has a name.

In the near future I plan to capture as many interesting lanes and quirky names as I can find and then post it here, or perhaps do a series on the streets of London.

Today it will be Sandy's Row and Artillery Passage. Love these lanes. About 100m either way, you will find towering modern architecture.

Also, off Sandy's Row, you will find Frying Pan Alley, but I will have to go back to take a photo of that for you :)

Find the last photo cross-processed on my Flickr account, if you are interested.

Streets of London: Tower Bridge

This day, I witnessed a rarity. This day, the Tower Bridge actually opened up for a not-so-tall boat, but I saw too late and only managed to record the end of it on my iPhone. So alas, no photos of the bridge opening, but these showcase, what I would call, a typical day at Tower Bridge.

Note the olympic rings under the top of the bridge.

Starbucks in Brushfield Street was recently refurbished and at first I was a little unsettled, as I loved the cosiness of it and the many many couches it had. I didnt want the many couches to be removed! The windows were the typical London vintage and the decor was quaint. It was cosy and studious at the same time with countless corporates and students in and out, sometimes choosing to sit there for at least 2 hours doing work or having informal meetings.

Well, when I popped in 2 weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see that, although its modernised and chic with a few less lounging areas, it has managed to keep its charm. I actually prefer the new decor so much more and they've even added a third floor of seating :)

Here are a few shots I took. There was too much artificial light at the counter, which caused harsh glare, but these are the few without.

A new start

This morning I took photos of my breakfast, as I sometimes do, then sat down with my coffee, newspaper and phone (sadly) and made a decision then and there to start this blog today. So I captured that moment and thats what you see above. I have contemplated creating a photo blog for so long now but was reluctant, as I'm not one to blog regularly. However, I realised that I take more photos than I probably should and most of them dont even see the light of day! So hopefully, I will be able to share some of the many photos of my days here with you.

I cant promise that my photos will be interesting, or good for that matter, as I'm not a photographer, but I hope you will enjoy some of what I have captured. This is just me dabbling in what I would call a pretty serious hobby and I hope you'll stick around. Here's to new beginnings..

I might post the pics of this morning's breakfast in a new post - I still have to decide.
